Market Line - Opteon throws its weight behind Menzies Inc
Menzies Inc - a local, not-for-profit organisation that has provided
services for young disadvantaged people in the Frankston and Mornington
Peninsula area for more than 100 years - is Market Line - Opteon’s nominated
charity for 2007. Market Line - Opteon will raise funds through its social committee
as well as providing mentoring and support for Menzies. “Menzies
does superb work and our involvement with them enables us to make a tangible
contribution to the community we operate in.” Market Line - Opteon CEO Bret
Butler said. Menzies developed from an inner-Melbourne mission which provided
residential care for children from 1895. In the early 1900s the mission
relocated to Frankston and operated out of premises located on Oliver’s
Hill. It was subsequently named The Menzies Home, after James Menzies
the father of Australian Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies. The Oliver’s
Hill property was sold and a series of family group homes were established
in Frankston and throughout the Mornington Peninsula. Today Menzies Inc
still provides accommodation for young disadvantaged children but it has
also introduced specialist programs such as animal assisted therapy and
aggression replacement training designed to assist young people with the
most difficult emotional and behavioural problems.
